    Good questions. The "cloud" in the pic on th SI right side is bait fish and plankton I'm pretty sure. There were clouds all over the water that night but only in the locations I dropped the trees. The SI left pic is of the shore line dropping off to the depth the trees are holding. Those are rocks on the bank sloping down to deeper water. I placed these at a point of land that attracts fish already. They are not brighter white because they are sloping up out of the water. I get the lighter images from the hard bottom when it is deeper or I go over the area in the cone closer. Hope that helps. Here's another view of the trees from a different angle.

    The trees are already buoyant as they are wood but tying them to the cinder blocks and tying a small foam noodle to the top of the tree keeps them upright for as long as the trees are there.
