THE BLOCK IS SHAPE RIGHT LETTING YOU KNOW THAT SPEED OF BOAT IS RIGHT WITH SI UNIT,DON'T KNOW WHAT TAILS UP AND TAILS DOWN MEAN

I think Rickie is saying that the transducer is level, not high or low on the tail?
If that is the case, I need to post an image for my explanation, but will wait for a while and think on it!

One would be that the sonar shadows are perfectly horizontal

Nice BobB, that is a concise correct answer in my book.
By using the 2 long shadows one on left and right, you could rule out those objects were not tilted themselves and hence the ducer should be level! Beats my original idea!

Well now that he is talking about level ducer ,i agree on 2 long shadows but also corner of block is straight in line with shadow also.but again a block or tire or something you know its shape ,when its change shape speed is off,not his question but a good help to us in adjusting our units, sorry i first misunderstood you

    Bob is correct...

I was looking for an image with the shadows not perpendicular to the boat path ...but I can't seem to find it right now...

Anyone got an image with slanted shadows ...??

rickie, I've got to question this one? I always run my transducer tilted way down towards the rear.i really don't see much difference in the shadow angle on si, but it does show on the 2d

I never really thought about the shadow being slanted , due to the transducer being out of line.it does seem like that would be the case.but I don't see it in my shots that I reviewed
