    Default Side Image pictures

I would like to see as many pictures of side image when you go back to waypoint and catch crappie. I'm having a hard time knowing when it includes fish and how long to spend on this site. Thanks

My experience is some brush will almost always hold fish. I usually catch some there, so I don't scan it, I just fish it.
Other areas have many trees or brush and I scan until I see fish on or near.
I might scan once and throw out 3 markers on the areas as I go over them (downscaning).
However, it is a sad fact that seeing fish doesn't always mean catching fish.
I caught 2 last time out. I SAW 100 + on the sonar.
    I left early.

That's why you need a 360....you can sneak up without getting over the brush to drop markers....good chance you spooked them.

They don't seem to care so much in the spring and fall, but it seems they are easy to spook this time of year.

yep, marking and catching is a big difference. i've thrown everything i've got at a hole that was showing fish to end up with a pain from casting and no fish in the boat

one thing i have notices though is when i've marked fish tight to cover they seem to be less active than when i find them scattered over and around it.

WHEN I GO OVER BRUSH WITH SI ,I GO AS SLOW AS BIG ENGINE ALLOWS,2 1/2 TO 3 MPH,WITH 998 SET ABOUT 60 FEET LEFT AND RIGHT,IF IT HAS MANY FISH IT WILL EASY BE SEEN,IF 3 OR 4 MAY NOT SEE THEM BUT IF BRUSH IS THICK THEN I WILL GO STRAIGHT OVER IT WITH DI TO SEE IF IT IS WORTH FISHING.IF IT IS A BAD DAY WHERE I CAN NOT SEEM TO FIND FISH THEN A GOOD PILE I MAY STOP AT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STILL FISH,BUT KNOWING THE LAKE AND THE SEASON OF YEAR WILL DETERMINE WHERE I PLAN ON LOOKING,BUT SOMETIMES I WILL DO OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE NORMAL SEASON SHOULD CALL FOR LIKE GO SHALLOW IN HOT WEATHER,BUT I DON'T STAY LONG IN ONE PLACE WITHOUT A BITE,WELL IN WINTER I MAY STAY LONGER,DON'T KNOW WHETHER ITS I THINK THEY ARE SLOW TO BITE OR TOO COLD TO MOVE

SLABBACK, AS U KNOW THAT IF U CAN SEE A FEW OVER THE BRUSH THEN THEY ARE TAKERS FOR SURE,ALSO WHEN THEY ARE TIGHT AND DON'T WANT TO BITE TO PUT ABOUT A 1 INCH JIG ON LINE AND DROP IT DOWN TO ABOUT A FOOT OVER THEM AND WATCH YOUR 2D TO SEE IF THEY ARE INTRESTED COMING UP AND GOING DOWN,MANY TIMES IF I HOLD IT STILL FOR ABOUT A MINUTE ONE WILL HIT IT AND SOMETIMES WILL START OTHERS TO BITTING,BUT AS ALL FISHERMEN KNOW ,WE LIKE TO TELL OF THE TIMES IT WORK AND NOT THE OTHER TIMES

These are clips from shots to go right into what I think you were asking about without all the other stuff showing.

With this tree you can see how the limbs and trunk come out but notice that you only see a few dot or returns I would take as fish. This spot would be marked for another day but left alone for now. (Notice this muddy or stained water shot compared to the other clearer water shots)

Here however you can see the trees along this drop and how the fish (dots) are stacked in and around them.

Genec talked about slowing the boat speed to pick up fish better in the structure. This is a shot of what he spoke of. You can see the limbs of the tree but notice how you no longer have the dots but more of a stretched out return marking the fish but still have detail on the tree.
