Am looking forward to my first experience using and learning how to get best results, plan on spending alot of time using and not alot fishing for a while. Now we need to get rid of these 12-14 in snow banks on these ramps and I'll be out there.

And hit ole crappie chatt up too. He's a great resource for Lowrance, and he's in your back yard.

Make sure you learn how to take a screen shot before you hit the water. It's easy, but not obvious. You have to go to the "System" menu and select "Screen Shot". I missed a very cool picture my first time out showing a fish holding on a tire because I couldn't figure out how to take the shot fast enough.

When you are done fishing, you go back to the system menu and disable it to use the power button.

Hardest thing I can do is to try to spend time just running the unit looking. I tried it a few times but I get to seeing so much cool stuff I just go to stop and fish. I'm a weak man.
Don't send that snow to us. 12"-14" would be like "frozen ****" LOL

I see a lot of questions asked by HB owners that could either be answered by the manual, or with a check on their website. I think HB Greg gets abused by folks because it's just easier for them to ask a question rather than looking it up. Greg does all this on his own with his free time, and it's not even part of his job. So credit to him, I love my job too.

HB has had a rough patch with the 360 issues, and update problems, but they'll be back to glory in no time. I'm sure QC is going to be the focus for anything coming up soon.

Wasn't long ago all you could hear from folks was "water in Lowrance units" and "lowrance customer service". Don't hear much of that any more, but every company has issues now and then.

HB owners are humble enough to swallow their pride when there are issues and ask for help, because they see all the help people will give. Lowrance owners don't want to admit on the internet they have issues even though people are willing to help. Case en point recently discovered Low users have the same issue getting on a waypoint at really low speed as hb, but with all the ragging they do on the donut won't really speak up about it. I think this is less an issue here on C.C than other forums.

X2 on reading the manual would eliminate 90% of the posts for HB. I read one today the guy wanted to know if he could find out how far he had been from the track line. Silly me I thought that was what the manual said the trip log was for.

Reality is that there are issue with both brands. Just like with laptop/desktop computers SW gets scrambled just a bit, both running exact same hardware and software and one works well and one does not.

I asked Fishton to produce a video showing what he was talking about with the chart update speed. I fish brush all the time, and haven't had the issue he mentioned as well as others that have the same results. I don't see anyone trying to avoid issues on Lowrance boards or threads. I think you've got that turned around a bit. Pro staff, staff, mods avoided the update issues like it was the plague, and look how the 360 issues are being avoided.

I for one await Fishton's information. If this had been a donut equivalent issue, you'd think thousands of users would have recognized it by now right?
