I got a HB on the TM but the ONLY reason is because the xducer wire fits in the slot/groove on the Terrova and makes for a better/cleaner install IMO. Tried a Lowrance FF on the Terrova and it just didn't work good for me. The HB xducer wire is thinner than the Lowrance, and will fit in the slot/groove on the Terrova. Ive got a Low HDS 8 w/ SS at the console and like it a lot.

HB Greg is an asset to HB, and his advice and help to HB owners is a good thing in these times of frustrating technology invading the serene waters of the fishing world.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

It seems to me alot of these Bird posts are from folks either asking about set up or someone asking about specific problems, screens acting weird, GPS not locking properly on some models, set up ect.
I'm a Low guy and I often wondered the same thing. I just figured there weren't as many posts because they didn't have the problems.
I don't hear of many problems from Low guys.

I always thought people went to Birds because the price is a little lower. I went with Low cause I thought the pic was clearer.

have 2 lowrances, front & console, one got water in it last year while I was at Kentucky Lake. I sent it back to Lowrance and had another one four days later. Good service for me.

A few years ago I had a high end Low unit go bad that was a few weeks out of warranty. I called them and they asked a few questions and then replaced the unit at no charge. I don't remember exact dates but I think the turn around was less than a week.
I've heard good and bad both ways. I believe most folks who get in these discussion have never used either companies customer service

I agree with this totally crappiemax.
I've read threads on other sites where some will get to ragging on Lowrance CS for something that in my mind was a bunch of BS. I remember one in particular where a guy had a unit that had been discontinued for quite some time, Low offered a swap out to an upgraded unit (a new HDS) for a minimal amount and he was p-off about not getting it for nothing. I was thinking, "really". The bad thing was that a lot of people started jumping on the band wagon complaining about how bad the CS at Low was because of this too.

I've never been one of those people that believes that I deserve something for nothing, some don't see it that way though...

I've owned them both over the years, both worked well. I was actually going to upgrade to a new Bird for SI/DI but at the time they didn't have HDS and I read a lot of post where guys were looking for sunscreens for their Birds (again lots of posts). A fellow c.c member was explaining the merits of each unit, he currently had Birds but was switching to Low just for the HDS feature.

I honestly don't get all the mine is better than yours. I would almost bet most guys ave never operated both so its not fair for them to say.

I really appreciate all the input, this is exactly what I was hoping for by my post, I have just purchased an HDS7 Gen 2, with the module for d/s & s/i, and am always looking for tips and anything else that might allow me to gain knowledge, somewhat electronic illiterate here. Again Thanx! DK

One of the best things you can do to get advice is to post screen shots to this forum. There really isn't much difference in what the brands do, mostly the user interface, so users of either brand can give general help.

A little time spent on the water playing with your units without fishing can be a big help.
