stymie, ive tryed the simulator on my 998 and im very pleased with what im seeing. i also think that the smaller units would work also. i see no reason that the 700 series users would not benefit from the 360

The only thing you have to have other than compatible HB unit and the 360 TD is a 200Khz transducer. It can be used without si td.

The cost will keep it from any rapid replacement of SI/DI.

Cool technology for sure and yes the PAID pros will go on about how they couldn't catch fish with out it. But honestly, how much can the "average" fisherman, who actually have to pay for it benefit from it? The better question is, will the "average" fisherman buy it? You're looking at $2300 for the 360 and the mounting bracket and if you don't have a unit that is big enough to see it on another $2000 to $2800, that's $4300-$5100 if you go all in at one time. I'm sure some of the board sponsors will beat BPS prices, but still a lot of $$$.

This is not intended to be a HB bash, just some of my thoughts.
I think it's crazy too, but I never thought I would see people paying over $1000+ for an anchor. Now you see guys running around with 2 power poles mounted on their boats. If they are willing to pay $2000+ for an anchoring system, no reason they won't pay another $2000 for the 360.

Off topic, but you asked for it. It limited me to four poles. I made a few modifications since this picture ( ie on water usage ), but it works pretty good now. Only hassle is moving it from the big boat to the small boat.

OK, to keep it on topic, if I win the lottery and buy the 1198 and the 360, I can mount this permanently to my kayak.

The only small peeve that I see (and no reason a software update can't correct) is that the range lines are from the GPS puck ( which should be mounted close to the unit ) and the fact that if I'm pushing, I'll be about 20 feet in front of. This will cause me to have to do a quick calculation every time I glance at the screen and see objects of interest.

Otherwise, this will benefit a lot less of crashing into piles, stumps and ledges and making adjustments to navigate towards spotted objects when pushing.

I can envision some nice usage while pulling jigs and crankbaits too.

Dang, I'm almost starting to talk myself into playing the lottery.

Eric, I've only seen a couple boats on KY or Barkley Lake that had the pole anchors on them and my guess is that they weren't locals.

Styme, if yor pushing (spider rig) and have the 360 td on the stern shouldn't you be able to see your jigs on the 360 screen?

Does the tranducer let down in the water like a power pole??? If so...looks to me like it could easily be tore up if you forget to let it up and take off.

360 doing the same work as si/di plus no need for the boat to move. you dont even need to have si/di transducer. this is only the first generation of 360. who nos were this is going. i think that this could be the beginning of the end for si/di
