Nice one Bill..In LA is it a State record even though it was caught in a pond?
Caught on 5/9/05 by Peggy Haymon in Hornbeck, La. using a yellow crappie jig with a red head on 10 pound test line
This was a pond caught crappie, and is registered as such, but what a fish!
Weight: 3.685 pounds (3 pounds 11 ounces)
Total Length: 16 7/8 inches, Fork Length: 16 ¼ inches
Girth: 15 3/8 inches

When I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations I have a good day
What a fish! Kind of shaped like some big red ear I use to catch when I was a kid. Nice and round.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin' and hook up with them later.
Beeeeutiful!
It's still the new State Record, but is categorized as being caught in a pond. Seems that a pond crappie gets less attention, but nonetheless it's top fish now!Originally Posted by DonG

I would like to see a photo of the old state record caught in 1969 of 6lbs even I believe it was a black crappie.
You guys probably have seen this site, but it lists records by state.

Yes it does.....in fact, Im sitting here this morning(vacation day) waiting for the sun to come up. All the schools are out due to icy roads, but if the wind isnt blowing, I may go for a while. Its not too bad, just 29 degrees with a high of 40 today:D
