What area are you trolling? What state,lake? The crappie may be spawing in on the banks and trolling isn't as effective then as it is when they are staging. Here in NC it works better in early spring...

I have heard that they feed up and not down, I wonder when they are on the bottom & deep, will they hit when trolling? When brush fishing and they are deep sometimes they take it pretty slow.

I fish High-Rock and Norman. Norman used to be loaded with crappie but me and my buddies don't do so well there anymore. I fish High-Rock the most. Thanks Farmer.
