Thats why we were using them, as you said. Now what we're using are hair jigs under a float/bobber and just bouncing it a bit wait, reel in some and repeat.

Could I just use straight mono? I use braid/mono leaders on my bass rods, but Id prefer to keep this setup simple. I dont really see the need for braid on these rigs, other than...

True... I guess in the end you're only taking a few seconds to cut and retie and you're not using that much line neither.
