Yes water or another beverage of your choice. I've always used water but I got a buddy that swears by Mountain Dew. Lol I hadn't noticed any difference but to each their own.

I use small single hook spoons often. My buddy makes them. I double rig them sometimes. I fish them just like a jig vertical with slow rise and fall or deadstick them. Crappie seem to like them best...
