I use Slater’s pole reel from Grizzly jig on all my long poles. They have a good adjustable spring tension. Never had one back lash.

Are you talking about long poles ? 10 ft or more ? If that’s the case and you fish fairly shallow the Slater Ice fishing reel is what I prefer. Super light weight, tough and fool proof.
