Do you have the ability to do SI? If so, maybe make a few passes from different angles at about 3 mph with chart speed set at 3-4 and sensitivity set to 11-12. I think you would be able to read more...

I've lost a couple rods in the past as well, mainly when kayaking (beginner and didn't tether like I do now).

Your best bet would have been to mark the spot with GPS and come back in the summer...

Single pole the shallow inlets/creeks with a search lure. I plan on using a white grub starting out. Hit the creeks and shallow banks first, especially near riprap and rock where it's warmed up....

I haven't tried night fishing for crappie yet, might try that soon. Good luck catching more! You're not far from me, I'm over in Athens and fish the lower end of Wheeler.
