Thanks for inviting me, I am not an expert at crappies but when they show up on the sonar or on a hook I focus on them. I like eating them and catching them.

Yes, when you are looking for fish on the console and make a waypoint you want that waypoint to show on the bow GPS when you start fishing.

Side scan/side imaging would be the best for finding them. They show up well.
I would use the transom mounted transducer for scanning.

I have researched this and there is no scientific data to support fish are affected by the transducer frequencies we use. It is similar to why we can't hear a dog whistle.

I haven't figured that out myself, maybe someone else has and can chime in. I would be really happy if they built it into the motor like the MK Universal Sonar so I don't have a cable to deal with....

I run my transducer wires next to all my wires without a problem for years. My first thought is the installation. Did you have someone do it? If so I would bring it back to him.

The screen will be blurry in shallow water. I prefer the brown palette and I adjust the contrast depending on the depth of the water. Higher for deep water.

I often use the Spot Lock on suspended crappies/ shallow walleyes and fishing snaggy boulders vertically.

It used to be my anchors (I carried 3 up to 40 lbs). Now I use Spot Lock with my MK Terrova. Nothing better to pin down some fish and just focus on catching instead of running the trolling motor.

You have to spend some time with the electronics today since they are like mini computers, it is the same with a new cell phone, it takes time to figure it out.

I prefer 80 foot but I used 160 in 2012 when I made some StructureMaps in 30 feet of water on some deep reefs.

I prefer DI but that might change after I use HB 360 and LOW Spotlight.

I have used it to pitch jigs into weeds pockets but not to target a fish like I do with regular sonar.

I don’t since our bottom is hard and fish don’t show up well in rocks. I will test this more with HB360 and LOW Spotlight this year.
