The keel seam is welded solid. The cap you see is stitch welded from the factory and that how they put it back together. Sorry it wasn't welded solid for all your viewing pleasure.

That is how it was done from the factory too. If it was solid it could hold water and freeze.

Sorry for the late update but I got it fixed! It sat at the welding shop for a week before they got it in. They were not concerned about the tank. I did drain all the fuel though. Not super impressed...

Yes you can, not sure if it would support the 800htz hut would make the image slightly better. It is not going to be as noticeable on the smaller screen but I think you'd see a difference.
