You could also put in at the Old Ferry. Take the Egan exit off of I-10 and go south to the river. That would put you 3-4 miles south of the Bridge. Thats by the old refinery also.

I checked the maps, the only cut to the right is just over 2 miles from Gary's. Thats doable in a Kayak but makes for a long day, especially if the wind is against you.

My point is/was not to stir up controversy rather more curious. I will still gather the errant string, lure, can, bit of trash etc from the waterways as I can. I will still try to recycle...

I'm not sure if this is an environmental question or what. But, as a rule my buds and I (kayakers) always bring out of the water more than we go with, i.e. trash etc.
