Interesting idea....but it sounds heavy. especially when full of water. How hard is it to occasionally remove from the water?

I usually have 6-10 dozen on hand. There is enough water movement in the lake, so with a big enough enclosure, mortality is reduced.

I put out 9 boo mats about four weeks ago. Yesterday I caught 28 crappie off of them. It was quite a kick catching em in places where they weren't just a few short weeks ago.
