Great post. It kind of explains why I catch black crappie on poppers and top water bugs. I can't ever remember catching a white on topwater.

The biggest problem with using marabou is durability. I've been using Arctic fox or Finn raccoon as a substitute. It is a bit more expensive but lasts longer.

Be careful of the feathers from craft stores. The dye used with some of the feathers will wash out when it gets wet. You may cast out a blue jig and reel in a white one.
