Here is what I have found out about this subject. It can be the rod or the reel causing it. I have used braid on those rods and I have not had issues. Now the braid I was using was the Infinity PE X8...

Open gaped. Hook ups are very quick....and I have noticed with bluegill using the Ajing jig head I get a lot of gut hooks.

They are new. Can’t find the 6 footer anywhere. Much better blank…..less blurring…or vibration of blank during cast. More sensitive. The blank is more flexible in materials than the Fine Tail.
