Got to fish Old River this morning. We had a slow bite unfortunately. Left about noon with 13 keepers. The two big fish went 13".

nice catch! I haven't managed anything close to 2lbs there lately. Caught a few 10+ today for a change. I'll also be there tomorrow morning.

did go to old river this morning. bite stopped at about 9:30, but I hadn't caught much before that anyway. left at 1100 right before a good rain.

I always use shiners at Old River. I catch a few with jigs, but shiners work well.
Might be going tomorrow, if I go I will post a report.

Made the trip out to Old River this morning. unfortunately the water stopped going down real well.
Left before the rain could get us sometime around two with about 12 sacs. big fish went 13 inches....

they do have a mcgees landing, I have never used it though. usually just put in at the public launch off of I10

I use some of the mr. crappie hi vis line. and I also have some stren hi vis gold. I haven't noticed any effect on the fishing. I don't think the water is clear enough down here where I fish for it...

I fished in henderson some during December. Around that time (and a bit before) a lot of people were doing well. Fishing on old railroad pilings. Haven't been back since all of the rain...

awesome catch, and I definitely would prefer quality over quantity as well.

I haven't caught too many in this cold water :o (yet), but go check out all of Jig Rig's old posts. From the looks of them, now is a great time to be fishing!:D

Sounds like we have the same type of fishing days. Sorry to hear about the loss of the big fish. I sure hate when that happens.

Can anyone tell me where the best winter crappie fishing is in south louisiana? Wanting to try some new spots, but not too sure where the fishing is best this time of year.

went on Sunday, had a few boats in that were mostly hunters. didn't even get a bite, and some other guys who were bass fishing said the same thing. the water looks muddier than usual out there.
