thanks for all the advise.looked at parts list for both 9.9 and 15 and all parts in carb and reed valves are the same.only difference in carbs are the venturi throats are bigger in a 15 hp...

i've got a 1978 johnson 9.9 can just changing to a 15 hp carb really help me out without changing reed valves or exhaust?any advise is greatly appreciated.

linec you are correct the serial # is on the freeze plug on the block but still cannot find model # anywhere ,and thank you and all who replied.

to get title i need the model # i've looked on the cowl,the engine and data plate but no model #.i can get a parts list by serial# but i need model# for title .thanks anyway Bill.
