Crappie barge?????

I am going to Brownwood tomorrow and have never fished it before. Can anybody give me any tips, what the fish are doing, where to find the good water, etc.?

What is "the O up north"?

I always used to freeze all my fish in water. It still got fishy tasting so I quit keeping it.
Since I got a Food Saver, I vac pac fish w/o any water and I have had it keep for as long as 5 years...

I think sand bass are great if you remove the red meat and eat them right away. They seem to gain a lot of fishy taste in the freezer.

Fished today from about 10:00-4:00. 3 of us caught between 50 and 55. Kept none under 10" and most were in the 1#-1 1/4# range. Pretty good day on the water.

Taylor's Ferry is a 30 minute drive from my house.

Well then I guess the upshot here is that you no longer have an excuse not to go fishing with me.

I have never had even a hint of gamey taste in crappie. I always thought that the absence of gamey/fushy taste is why crappie are such popular eating fish.
