Very common at Lake Fork, usually close to crappie. Found no need to cut off the little bit of red meat on them. If you get a 12 incher it's considered a whopper!

Mighty strange there Rob. The Sandies and Crappie were running up Denton Creek, their typical spawning grounds, in early spring, by the thousands. Maybe these are just some late bloomers.

You're correct! It depends on the body of water, time of year, etc.
I caught a 17 inch crappie at Fork, right after the spawn, and she only weighed 1.75 pounds. Probably would have been way over... -
