If the cats are 15# and bigger I would suggest using fresh cut bait (shad) The bigger cats don't hit livers as quickly as they will hit the cutbait.

The barges don't go up that side of the river at all. The new ramp is on the old channel and the barges stay on the new channel where Vulcan is.

I used to fish up there a couple times a week and seldom saw it mudy. Maybe a little stained after a good rain but not to the point it isn't fishable as long as the water is inside the banks.

It's no channel but it was caught on the gut pocket section of a gizzard shad in 38 digree water...
