I'm from San Bruno, not much crappie fishing lakes around here so I usually have to travel a few hours....

My name is Joe. And I live the Bay Area of California and my favorite lake to fish is Lake Berryessa because of its abundunce of big catfish, HUGE Bass, and lots of Crappie.

Nailed some at Amador yesterday using live minnows. Oh and Fishing101, make sure to let me know how you do at Berryessa in May.....

We found Crappie at Amador, along with bass and bluegill. We caught the crappie using minnows in a small cove. And yes i know, The dates are off on the pictures.....

it was caught at Lake Dixon but it was foul-hooked so does not count. It was 25lbs.

Nice fish!!! I'll be hitting that lake later in Spring. I usually camp there in late April/early May. Thats for posting the pic

No, in fact, i live in Cali and have never even heard of the lake!

The lake only produces good amounts of crappie in Spring....Live minnows near trees work well and red and white jigs. Cappel Cove is the hot spot. Ive eaten crappie from the lake...there good.
