Default Anyone fishing the surf on the gulf?

We're heading down that way in a few days and always give the beach a good fishing. Anyone know what's being caught (hopefully whiting and a few pompano). Thanks for any info.

    Take care,

Hey Greenfish, which state are you going to? The gulf covers several states. I would think you are heading toward Florida being you mentioned pompano. I can't help you with that area but I use to do alot of surf fishing in Louisiana and we would catch alot of specks and some huge reds. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    Shadow,
We're headed to Alabama. We've managed a few bull reds on several occasions but usually release those big guys. Are ya catching any reds in La. right now?

    Take care,

Hey Greenfish, I haven't been since IKE but we went a couple of days before the storm and did real well. I have heard good reports coming from the lake and will try to get out one day this week. I haven't heard anything from the beach though, sorry.

    Shadow,
Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna fish anyway regardless of the fishing report so no big deal. Good luck with things over your way.

    Take care,
    Greenfish
