Well, atleast we "think" it was the sun and the tablets and not the shrimp. I have eaten them before and don't recall any problems. And actually, I didn't laugh at you for your story, I was feeling bad for you.

Are both pics of the "brown"? Cause when I did a search for pics, one of them came up as a white.

I think they are brown shrimp might be wrong. Could be mixed, but i think the browns come in before the whites. I have eaten both and had no problems.

I am far from an expert, but only the larger brown shrimp should have the iodine smell. They are the ones that feed on the kelp that is high in iodine. One site says that if you want to get rid of the iodine odor, you can soak the shrimp shell on in 2 tablespoons of baking soda to 1 quart of cold water for 10 minutes and then rinse under cool running water.

There is nothing wrong with brown shrimp I have been eating them all my life. If you boil them, don't go over 2 minutes are they are very hard to peel. I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT THERE TOUGH IF YOU DO!
