Salt water get together in Louisiana

Man I have got to come this year,those red fish are pretty! Shadow you said you live near Heberts,,arent there some house you can rent or something?

There are a few RV campgrounds close or there are hotels in Lake Charles that you can stay at. There are a few rent houses at the lake but they start out at $135 a night, I believe. We usually do the crab boils at my house. Most people do bring there boats as the places that we go, you need a boat. If you decide you don't want to bring your boat there are a couple of places that I can show you to crab, but I would recommend bringing a boat.

I will try to get the #'s of the RV campgrounds when I get home or Johnny, if you are reading this maybe you can do a search for them and get them posted for me.

RV parks......
Big Lake RV 337-802-5779, I believe these are $15-$20 a night.
Intercoastal Park 337-762-3182, These are $12 a night.
Intercoastal Park has a launch at the campsite and Big Lake RV has a launch within 1-2 miles from the campground. These were the old prices, not sure what they are now.

As for directions........Coming from Alex., come south to I-10 and head west....Take the 210 loop heading west.....take the hwy 14 exit (Exit # 8)heading south (You will pass right in front of Wal-mart) and continue on 14 until you get to where it turns to the left....don't turn keep going straight (This is Tom Hebert rd) you will go through a red light (at Gauthier Rd) and continue heading south until you reach the second stop sign......Take a right here (This is Helms Rd) go all the way until you hit a stop sign here (there will be a Conoco across the road from you).....Take a left here (this is 385 or Gulf Hwy)......continue heading south on gulf hwy and you will come to a "Y" (there is a store on each side) go to the right.......You will cross a draw bridge......about a mile pass the draw bridge you will see a church on the left......just pass the church is Big Pasture Rd on the left....take it and go down to Hebert Camp Rd (there should be a sign that says Heberts and one that says Harbor Lights) take a right on Hebert camp rd and go down and follow the sign to Harbor Lights and that is Heberts.

To get to my house.....when you turn on Big Pasture Rd go exactly 3 miles and my house will be on the right (2 story wood house set back off the road) Also the mailbox is a big bass and if you are coming at night, the post has 2 red reflectors on it. The address is 864 and is on the post.

Rick, I don't believe you have anything other than just your fresh and saltwater fishing license.

Dino, sure wish you could make it but understand that duty calls. We did get to make a few trips together and I had a blast fishing/shrimping/crabbing with you and Claude and his son. Don't forget to send me some of those pictures from the other side of the earth! :D lol

Well I am going to make it official.....THE SALT WATER GET TOGETHER IS GOING TO BE JULY 4TH THRU JULY 6TH

No one has voted for awhile so I guess the ones that want to come have all thrown their vote in.


The weekend of the 4th had the most votes. There was one other that was close but there was a double vote :D so it looks like the 4th wins.....
