Hey Joshua, I heard a couple of weeks ago, that if you weren't catching reds it was b/c you didn't have your hook in the water. But yesterday my father-in-law talked to a guy that catches all the time and he only had 1 red and 3 specks. He said the water was too dirty. I plan on making a trip out ther eventually but have to leave tomorrow for offshore for a week or so. Willl give it a try when I get back.

I see your cooking em' with the head on.. You getting some of that brain tea... I am not a picky eater compared to most... I saw a buddy of mine suck the brain tea out of crawfish head one time... I will stick with the tails.. Never heard of anyone doing shrimp that way..
Not from LA, but when I lived in Orange, TX, I had the good fortune of fur trapping several crawfish farms to rid them of coons, mink, nutria and muskrats. Did a pretty good job of it, because the crawfish farmers were always giving me sacks of purged crawfish for saving them thousands of $$$ in profits. Best time I ever had, not to mention all the frog gigging I could do in the spring! Great times and surely miss them.
But there was always the crawfish festivals! My dad and I shrimped & oystered commercially as a pastime and made a little. We could usually catch enough nice blue crabs while shrimping to have plenty to eat. Our season in Texas begins on May 15th, shrimping that is, crabbing is always open.
Yum Yum!
