Hey Kajun, you can take that king meat and wrap it with bacon and throw it on the pit and ..........Man it doesn't get much better than that!!:D

well these were the first i've caught and ate... i just seasoned them up real good and put em on the grill..after a couple mins i put them on a piece of foil with butter and lemon slices...i thought they were great eating fish...i had been hearing how they werent good fish to eat...but i'll eat them fresh anyday...i think thats the ticket though..they got to be fresh..not frozen or put in frig...

No, we didn't eat the big drum, like Shadow said we used them for cutbait to run some jugs for catfish. We did pretty good on them too. I don't remember how long we were out there, just that it was raining on us most of the time.
Shadow got me to go look for the pic. If I remember correctly the total count was 30 nice ones, here they are in a 120qt ice chest.

Oh yeah and another thing, The smaller drum, you can filet them and boil it in crab boil, and it actually taste like crab meat.

Yes, we fished in the ship channel just on the south end of the Jetty pier. We used to do real well off of the pier til the hurricane tore it up and they aint got it fixed yet, so we tied off to the end of it. We missed about 5 more big ones, broke lines with 30lb test.

Yep..those are the ones I'm talking bout. I want to get into some of those Reds and Flounders. But those are some nice size shrimp and crab.

Hey Kajun, Alot of people don't like to eat them.....I don't understand why b/c to me they are one of the best eating fish out there. I have eaten them from the freezer too and they were good. Just wrap them in bacon (small cubes or balls) and put them on the pit until the bacon is done and it taste just like a hunk of beef....Doesn't even taste like fish. My wife, who is the pickest fish eater I know even loves them. Try it out, I bet you will love it.

Good Stuff, the smaller black drum (up to about 5 lbs) are good eating but the bigger ones like Johnny has pictured there are full of worms. He kept these for a buddy to cut up and use for catfish bait. They worked good too, maybe Johnny will post the picture of the catfish they caught with them. I am running out of time or I would look for them for you.

They are actualy parasites not worms, and to this day I can't bring myself to eat one.

Never tried the bacon but it sounds good. One way I cook them is to cover them real thick with mayo and put them on the grill. Once they are done you can remove the mayo but I leave it on.
