I used to catch a lot of flatties around the mouths of run outs in the rivers of mobile bay. Used a red head jig with a white stingray grub tipped with a strip of belly skin off a flounder. Since the BP oil spill flounders are scarce in mobile bay.

I have had good luck with the swimming mullet from Gulp in the white or Chrt. colors the last several years. Just wish they made the baits tougher. After one or two fish you usually have to switch baits. Thanks for the picture. That is some nice looking flounder there.

Absolutely they'll nail a Gulp or grub on a jig if you put it near them. Live shrimp and MirroLures as well.

Best Flounder I caught was when we were Striper fishing at the Race. Long Island Sound. 30" 10lbs 12ozs. We were bouncing Wild Eye Shad sofe plastics of the bottom.

Nice always heard about big flounder up that way . We catch em while trolling for stripers in fall sometimes .Are there still stripers biting up that way ? Wondering if we have more coming south we 've had em about 2 weeks now.
