Our trout season started the week of 4/7/20. Do to the virus it was announced at 7:00 am and was in effect at 8:00 am. The Pa fish and boat commission is doing all the stocking with fish commission personal only. There is no advance notice on when or where the trout will be stocked.
In my area two streams are currently fishing well. The Yellowbreeches and Mountain Creek. Both are located in Cumberland co. This is north of Gettysburg Pa. We also have a decent number of wild brown in the main stream and brook trout in the upper areas of some creeks.
Bait fishermen are doing very well with power bait for Rainbows with worms and minnows being excellent for the Brooks and Browns. Spin fishermen are using trout magnets and assorted metal lures.Fly fishermen can catch many stocked fish on woolly buggers and white streamers. We do have 2 fly hatches. Grannoms and dark Hendricksons are the main stay. You need imitations in nymph, wet and drys. Early may we will start to see Sulphur mayflys. Good luck and be safe.
