It was cold, the ice was thick, and we got the truck stuck a couple of times. All part of the fun. We got the shanty out, cut the hole, decorated with WAPL radio wrap to win prizes, and stared down the hole, but everything but a sturgeon swam under us. Some big walleye, burbot, perch, bass, shad, minnows all swam by to keep things interesting. We saw a pair of snow owls, a hot air balloon went overhead, and we built a ice sturgeon bot to point the way. Our friend Shelly got a 132lber and shared a taste of some caviar, so all in all a great season. Might have spilled a beer on the way also. Now it's back to chasing perch, some whitefish, and the rainbows are starting to show up in the marina. Think Spring it's not that far away.
