I incorporate the dock shooting style of casting to tight spots from the bank sometimes, like over hanging branches, or where tree limbs prevent any type of normal casting. On occasion, I'll drive up to the state park marina on Pomme de terre lake, (about 54 miles away) and fish the docks over there, from the docks, and if I can't get them to come out to bite dropping straight down, dock shooting I go...

Sometimes it don't skip but goes ploop right where it hits. But, I stay at it. It helps to, that I'll get out in the yard and practice shooting at a small bucket. Neighbors think I'm a bit off my rocker for doing it, but I really don't care...It helps me accomplish what I want, and that's what matters to me.

I have a buddy that shoots docks with me frequently. He has an odd way of doing it by side arm/underhand casting.... He's an old bass fisherman from way back and learned how to do it fishing tournaments. His method is highly accurate.

That reminds me of skipping a stone, sling it side arm and low to get a lot of skips and distance.

I had bought a small trolling motor, a remote for directional control ,and a box to house it all. My plans were to make a thrust tube to swing the back end of the boat as needed to better stay in line with the dock. I never got around to building it. I am pretty effective at boat control with the Terova.
