Sweet!
I thought I would add a thread on this Post Environmental Discharge Post Filter for the water returning into the Holding Tank. Trying to improve the water quality is anyone's goal if you especially hold Emerald Shiners. Emerald Shiners is one of the most difficult baitfish to hold in a recirculating, closed, water system. I made this filter a while back and it has improved the quality of my Shiners 5 fold. Filtering out the balance of solids released by the Environmental Filter keeps the water free of micro debris that can get stuck in the Shiners gills, keeps the water clear without adding a clarifing agent like Barley which seems to infect some of the Shiners with a micro organism attacking the Shiners nervous system. This causing them to swim in circles till they die. I've lost 1000's of Shiners to that. I no longer have to add antibiotics to the water system.
Since the bucket body is tapered each filter was cut successively larger so a good fit to the sidewall is maintained. The filter medium is from Lowes, washable AC Filter material. So was the bucket, a food grade 2 gallon bucket with a lid. Drilling the holes lets the water fall softly releasing any Ammonia left after exiting the Environmental Filter.

Very nice. Reminds me of my canister filter on my aquarium. I’ve been using the white stuffing for pillow’s lately with good results
Nice set up

I can't take credit for it, I seen that on YouTube years ago when researching what I could use since I could not get the prepackaged filter cartridges designed for my canister anymore. Poly-fil is the material. Works good and is cheap! Tons of videos online now about it.
