The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass alongfunbun thanked you for this post
I didn't watch the whole video but I did make some minnow traps for $1 each. I wanted to make one like shown in the video but go price the 1/4 mess wire, home depot wants $10 for a 2ftx5ft piece. And you only will get 1 trap out of it.
Here's what I did and they work. I bought a square 1 gal water bottle at wallyworld for 98 cents. Cut the front spot off leaving a 1/2" tag, turn it around and attach it with ties or staple it. Then take vise grips and grip a BIG PENNHY NAIL. Heat it up on the stove and punch a bunch of holes all around the jug. First time I used it I caught 20+ minnows used dog food for bait.
A store bought one is 16"Lx 7"W and 8" in middle. My are 9"Lx 5.25" and they are square so they won't tumble like round ones. Put 2 together and its longer than store bought for $2. You will need rocks in bottom to sink it
