    Default Garden Pond Minnows?

I have a couple garden ponds out back. Pic above is the larger of the 2. Pretty well shaded. Northern exposure. 55O gph filter/pump. Cleaned them completely this week, filled them and let water stand for few days. Sandy bottom.
Can anyone advise me why I could or couldnt use one of these as a bulk minnow tank?

even shaded i believe the water temp will get too high. Need a way to cool the water as it is recirculated.

Shoulda checked the temps last year during the heat. I read a suggestion about using a fan blowing on the fountain spray to cool the water as much as 20 degrees. A water chiller is out of the question...$$$$. I have a couple dozen left overs in one now and they are responding very well after 2 days...at least there not belly up...yet. But it hasn't got hot yet either. I'll add some lillies and other shade and see what happens.

I have a 3/4 acre pond with a cut down plastic drum full of 1/8" holes that is supported by floats around the top to allow it to float with the upper edge about 3" above the water level in the pond. Minners will live indefinitely during the cooler months but in the heat of the summer some live for awhile but I will loose a few along.

i dont know how warm the water gets there and or how much shade is on it .....but if it remains almost total shade and you dont put to many in there they might survive well .
one thing about an "aquarium" setting is that if something goes south it will fast in many cases ...no more than 3 inches of fish per gallon of water is the rule of thumb on freshwater if i remember right ?

any way to dig a trench or deep hole and run a circulating line like a heat pump uses? Just on a smaller scale. Coil up the line in a deep hole or run it back and forth in a deep trench to exchange heat.???
