Thanks . I did not know that .
Not sure if anyone knows this or not, but that old carpet recent can catch all the worms you want,,,,, if just find an area in my yard that first of all hasn't been fertilized, that looks like good earth worm area, dark, cool, semi wet and throw that carpet remnant fiber side down and wet it with a hose,,, a few days later, flip the rug and se your worms,,,, worms eat the fibers and live that cool wet dark place to raise their young,mm worms all summer free! Just not so sure what kinda worms memphis have around these parts,,,, they look like snakes some are so big,,,, great for catfish of brim!!! They lovem. and they are a natural bait.....

I`m gonna have to try it...
Just make sure the ground you choose does not get treated with fertilizer,,, That stuff kills worms,,.

Used to do that around our barn. Did not buy worms for years. That or just dig up a spot turning the ground over. Then feed them corn meal and tea grounds. As long as its damp the worms love it.
Also have some belting material on the gravel under my boat. I can turn it over and get enough in warm weather to fish with. Anything works that will make it dark and damp. I have worm beds in the basement now. Those little wiggler worms are now as big as a can be. And raising like rabbits. LOL Should be able to keep the grand kids in worms with ease. Using those bins people store clothes in for the beds.

Does the material matter? All the spare carpet I have sitting around happens to be made of synthetics so I didn't figure that would work too well. Thanks.
A lot of places hold worms. Like said find a shady damp spot and kick the straw or mulch away. If you don't see them at first stick a pitch fork in the ground and run a short piece of pipe or rebar across the tines. They can't stand the vibration and will come to the surface

Hmm. I'll have to give that a try as well! Thanks!
I would love to do it right in my front lawn so it would leave a big ugly spot just to piss of my neighbors.
