Default Eye sockets on 1/32 minnow head filling with paint

I have the Do-It minnow head mold with molded eye sockets. I use powder paint and heat the heads with an alcohol lamp. On the 1/32 size the sockets are so small even with a fluid bed enough paint collects around the corners after they're baked to make putting on the 3D eyes very difficult. If I were just making them for me I wouldn't care but I am thinking of selling them and IMHO the results look sloppy and unprofessional. Is there any way to get a good looking result without going to an electrostatic airbrush setup?

The only way I know of to avoid this is go to a flat sided mold instead of sockets.

Someone posted a tool they made to turn round head into pill heads. A rivet tool that was modified. One could fashion something like that to cover the eye sockets when dipping them to keep the powder paint out of them. Place the jig in the tool after heating them and dip them might work great.

Another way would be a flat drill bit that you can easily scrape the paint out with before baking them.

Don't know your level of experience,, so here's a start list...
Are you cutting the powder paint with clear?
If not, do a small test run adding clear until it flows thin. Keep notes on the amounts used.
You could be getting the head too hot, or leaving it in the powder too long.
A quick site to side swish is all that's needed.
    Let us know your results.

Unfortunately do it molds are like this. I don’t have this exact mold but have the freestyles and the smaller heads eye cavities are less than the their bigger counterparts. Pretty much there aren’t any eye cavities on the smaller ones before paint and with paint none. You’ll need a good aluminum mold if you want better eye cavities. My print a lure molds don’t have this issue but still too much paint can fill in what cavity there is.

That's good to know since I was thinking of getting the freestyle mold. Not keen on paying almost $50 for a mold that only has a few cavities I will ever use and only makes one head of each size per pour. I much prefer production molds. What was the cost on the Print-A-Lure molds?

Just bought two more molds that were $109 a piece. Ordered when he had 20% off so was like $87 a piece before shipping. Got 1/16 oz big eye minnow and 1/8 oz big eye minnow. Fat guys has a nice freestyle but believe it is around $145 but had more cavities.

My print a lure molds sprue twist right off with next to no head cleanup needed. Can’t say that with Do it. There spruce is so thick that you have to do a lot of sanding on heads once you get the sprue off.
