It's getting time for me to paint a few crank baits and spoons. It has been many years since I have had to buy paint so my question is, what paint are you guys using these days? I had in the past just bought a multi-color paint kit because I don't use much at a time. After having the kit only 25 years some of the colors are drying up.
Particulars:
I hand paint with a brush after dipping my spoons and or crank baits in white vinyl paint. It seems if I don't paint them white first then chartreuse won't be very bright. I use a spray can vinyl chartreuse from Component Systems. Usually on spoons the chartreuse is only on one side and I paint the other side various colors.
I don't own or use an Air Sprayer so brush painting is my only option unless I go out and buy a small airbrush kit.
Should you buy an airbrush, look into the one that harbor freight offers. Used mine a lot and works ok, especially for the money.
For the white you’re base coating with, look into a can of epoxy appliance white. Toughest paint I know of coming from a can. Overspray stays wet and looking for a home much longer than others so either stay way away from anything you don’t want to have freckles or use it in an absolutely still air environment.
