    Default Herring mold question

Hi, I've just started pouring my own jigs and have only used the chub do it mold. I just got the herring mold and am wondering if they can be poured without using the wire inserts for the spinner?
    Thanks

Sure, you should just have a small spru there to trim off and scrape smooth. Pour a couple with out hooks and see what you get.

Yes. And they actually pour very well without the inserts. Minimal lead if any lead fills the insertcavity.

Love the chub grub too. It and herring last molds I've purchased.

Thanks for the responses! I was afraid the lead would run out all over like it does when you close the mold with the hook out of place.

I've just started painting too, after about 40 jigs I finally got them looking good enough for some of the blind older crappie to hit. But nothing quite as good as the jobs you guys have shown. I'm not too far off, just learning!

    Thanks

Any mold that takes inserts can be poured without them. Trust me we all had trouble with powder paint when we started, you'll get the hang of it.

I use size 0 split ring swivels. I found these that are easy to open. If you get regular swivels you have to add a split ring.

Thank you I like that idea I'll have to get some once I get the mold.
