You don't want to be like me. Hell I can't ever find time to pour.
Well ya know my issues. When I grow up I want to be able to pour lead like you Travis
I will make a video when I get time showing my casting them maybe you can see what I and other may be doing wrong

Coming out of a Do-It mold is facilitated by the sand finish in the cavities which allows a thin layer of air intermittently behind the head casting. Cut molds are shiny and have a layer of surface tension between the head and mold that has to be broken to get the heads out, that's why they seem to stick. You can try a release agent such as "drop-out" or you can candle the mold cavities to help in the sticking department. The venting has been addressed perfectly.
I have the same problem with barbs with this mold and also getting the heads out of the mold. I have smoked the molds and tried to pour one at a time and still only 50% of the heads are useable. I have stopped using the mold. I have other molds as the round head no barb and have not run across pouring problems but the heads are hard to remove. Like you I have put enough wasted pours through the molds that I have stopped using them unless it is a have to. I heat my molds and only use clean lead.
Going to try working on a vent line and see if that will help.

I agree......I only use for couple customers and I don't like that mold. Pouring one at a time worked for me but it is time consuming. As everyone knows.....you don't get rich pouring/painting/baking hooks.......But I enjoy it.

I've been looking at various molds and had even contacted Jacobs with a few questions after looking at theirs.
I had talked myself into spending the extra $$ for the Jacobs, but now when I go back to the site, they are gone. When I tried a Google search and saw some of the old links, I get errors like "You don't have the necessary permissions to view this page.".
I have sent an email asking about the change but no response yet.
My guess is that maybe the plastics mold business is much more lucrative and he would rather not mess with lead jig molds?
Hopefully I am wrong about that.
