This is a horse head mold I modified back in December. The weed guard pin is a 1/16' dia hook shaft. The spinner holder is the Do-it #0 Stainless steel sinker eye and the hook shaft cavity was widened to accept the Do-it wire keeper if one so chose. This modification allows one to power paint head without weed guard in or a swivel that needs to be protected. I can also leave the wire keeper off and tie a body on this jig. After tying I then can add the weed guard in with the same cement I use on the thread wraps. This modification could be made to almost any mold I believe.

These horse heads were made with the above modified mold above.

Great mod and like the way you can just glue the weed guard in after - but do you find any off balancing of the head while fishing them??

Fatman I do not see any balancing problems when I fish these. However I retrieve at a very low speed. I retrieve at one handle revolution every 4 seconds and my Diawa SS700 reel has a retrieve ratio of 5:1 I determine my depth of retrieve by which weight jig I fish. I fish mostly 1/16 and 1/8 oz jigs but sometimes 1/32 oz or 3/16 oz if i am fishing down in the 20" depth range. I fish all of them on 4# Fireline Solar. I also remove all but 6 weed guard bristles with finger nail clippers before I put them in the water. By the way the 4# Original Fireline Solar seems to be getting harder to buy. I have been using it for almost 30 years I believe.

Well I finally did it. Back to original design. This time it took no cutting of the mold. How did I do it???

1st I insert the stainless steel eye into mold. I close mold carefully not to move eye from the place I set it. I then pound on both sides of mold with a rubber mallet. I originally tried this months back with a vice but it didn't cut deep enough grooves into mold. Mallet did.

This took quite a few poundings but eventually I cut a grove into the mold of the eye.

And finished product. Perfectly cut into mold.

Have plans of dremeling out the mold so that I can eliminate an o ring and just attach the swivel to the eye if I so choose but that is later.

Fatman, where do your 1/32nd chub molds come from? They look great! Many thanks for any info.

Just another way to underspin. I use a coil jig, slide a swivel around spring to the top and then put on tail. I can quick change blades but most importantly is I paint the jig without the swivel and don't have to keep it protected from paint.

I have been talking with bait junkies to try to get him to put the under spin in the works. I really think it will be a good seller and used a lot.
