    Default Baking jighead after painting.

Hey guys, I've started powder painting my jigs heads and have started baking them in the toaster oven. I've put them in there around 350 degrees for 15mins. I dropped them on the pavement to test to see if it would chip and it did chip a little. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Lead is soft so it gives and the reason to not drop them on pavement. Not a good test. As you use jigheads they may chip in use in time.

Ok thanks for the response. As you can tell I'm a greenhorn on the painting and baking. So if i bake it at 350 degrees for 15 mins that should be good? Do I let it sit in the oven and cool down after Im done baking them? Don't know what I was thinking when I dropped it on pavement

After I bake some of mine I test them out,I just don't drop them I throw them on the pavement with force and never had one chip the paint.I would test the toaster oven you are using it may not be getting to 350 degrees.I use a regular stove oven to bake mine.I find after extended use in the river the paint wears off where it drags the bottom, but never chips off.

I open the door on the toaster oven and let them cool on the rack.

Ok thanks for the response. I put a tempature reader in there and it said 350. Maybe I need to let it bake for 20 mins.

If you go to Pro Tec web site they have a schedule you can print out that lists time and temp for each color they sell. I use toaster oven and do mine at 350 for 30 min then open door and let cool down in oven. You can over heat them but not over cook them with time as long as temp is good.

Thanks cray. I'll look on pro tec website. Think I need to bake them a little longer.
