Default Anyone ever used the chartreuse eagle claw jig hooks?

I was looking around on captain hooks and noticed eagle claw makes a chartreuse jig hook... I was curious if any of you all had ever used a chartreuse jig hook...

    thanks

Just a chartreuse dye over a gold hook. The color doesn't last all that long.

Ahh okay gotcha... I was thinking about trying some gold hooks (usually use black chrome or red) and I saw those which were $9 per 100 and gold was $4.50 per 100 I think... I'll prob try out the gold ones then

Get some Spike-It lure and blade dip in a couple colors and some gold hooks and make your own up in all sorts of colors. If you're casting these into jigs, do the casting then paint the heads, and finish by dipping the hooks in the colors you want. You can always re-dip them when the color has worn off.

Personally I see the colored hooks as gimmicks that sucker in anglers. Whether they do anything to up the hit percentages is pretty much up to whoever is using them and what those people observe. I've never seen any better angling using a colored hook shank, even for walleyes. Black nickel for this old bird 100% of the time.

I've seen so many things come along in the fishing industry over the years that haven't lived up to their supposed reputation that I can't count them all. Colored hooks are no exception to this. Do they catch fish? Absolutely.....but not any better than the good old bronzed hook or the black nickel. And when it comes down to sharpness right out of the package [and something I look at very closely when dealing with hooks] nothing will beat the sharpness of a black nickel hook, hence my preference.

I'm with you on the black nickel... I've seen a lot of older guys using the gold hooks around here so was curious.... I'll just stick with my black nickel and red hooks

Using more of the Black Chromes - but I do have some gold ones that I've had for a long time.

I would say that they are going by the rule that "Any hook will catch fish, It takes something flashy and new to catch fishermen though.". Like the others have said, buy some powder paint and dip them in it, if you want chart hooks.

I will tell you this though on the gold hooks. You have to use gold instead of bronze if you are going to be soldering the hook onto a blade to make an ice jig or one of Ship's Outlaw jigs. Bronze will not except solder. Also as far as the gold hooks go, I grew up fishing with the old Eagle Claw #2 Gold hooks with a leader that you buy at Wal-Mart. That is what Dad always bought , so that is what I used. LOL
