The whole design of this jig is you don't need a weed guard to fish brush. I fish one of the prototype ones last fall and never lost a jig all day.we fished nothing but hedge piles and oak piles the whole day. That's the reason we built it with the shorter shank jig. Better hook ups and fewer snags.

For glueing the eyes I use Duco cement - I fished the heck out jigs with a Mo's grub on it this whole summer and didn't lose a single eye.

    Great design!!!!

The idea behind the wire guard is not only to defelect brush. But stiff enough wire to defelect off of the Brush, limb, rock like injured prey (a shad/minnow that has been injured) some time you are in clear water or cast into a swimming pool watch the wire guard deflect off of a rope or any other object in the pool.We were fishing our local lake and noticied every time we defelected the bait off a limb a fish would grab the bait(reaction bite) the bait that was swam straight through the tree did not get touched.
