Default Powder Paint too hot during cure???

I'm having a problem with small(1/48 and 1/32oz) horseheads. I use a heat gun when dipping the head in the powder paint, then use a small front load toaster to cure. After curing I notice my chartreuse heads have a brownish tint to them, but not prior to curing. The oven I'm using is a cheap one from Wal-Mart, it does have a thermostat on it. I do as the directions say 350 degrees to 20 minutes. Any suggestions to stop the "browning" of the finish?

Put a oven thermometer in the toaster to be sure what temperature actually is. They are commonly not accurate on the oven thermostat.

X2, I found mine almost 50 degrees hotter than thermostats said.

what brand of powder paint are you using I use pro-tec my cure them at the same temperature as you do I don't have any problems and I use quite a few of the 1/32 ounce in the smaller jigs it is pretty much what I use anymore if you go to another source of powder paint and there are quite a few dealers out there you will go through a lot of them before you find the right powder thing for you but stick with ProTec.

X3 on the in-oven thermometer. The first I heard about it was a thread on Tackle Underground and the folks there all recommend it as temps ranged up to 50 degrees difference. Have powder from Rosy's, Columbia Coatings and CS and they all cure the same whether you add glitter or not. Only problem I've ever had with any of them is white always have to add clear as it's really thick.

Just as an example Translucent Candy Rasberry at Barlows 2, 2 oz bottles are $13.98, a 1/2 lb of Columbia Translucent Candy Raspberry is $8.99. Both work fine and cure the same!! Even if I didn't use the whole 1/2 lb. you can trade for colors with other members.

Bass Pro 2 oz. $7.49 not all colors available
Cabelas 2 oz. $7.99 to $9.99 not all colors available
Lureparts online $6.60 to $6.70 most colors available
Janns only ProTec is the UV blast 2 oz. $7.85, Janns powder is $6.19 for 2 oz.
LureCraft 2 oz. most colors $6.30

Absolutely more cost effective to buy the Columbia powder. It's personal choice what you use but for me Money makes the decision easy, products are both good.
