    Default A little larger....

These are a little larger than the 1/32 heads I am accustomed to pouring. At 12 pounds these eclipse that 3" bait resting on the one.

Yep. My buddy and I decided to run the 12 pounders on Lake Superior this season so I got the mold and went to work. I have a couple 5 gallon pails full of wheel weights to use to make them. My buddy has another 5 gallon of weights too. When we get them all cast up they'll go to a shop that sprays the Rhino Lining stuff and each will get covered with it and then allowed to cure for a couple weeks before we get them rigged for service.

The mold is super stable and won't tip when pouring so things are really quite well controlled. I melt and clean the lead from the wheel weights on a propane three burner stove salvaged from a ice fishing shack....I just hook the stove up to a 25 pound gas bottle. The melting is done in a 3 quart cast iron sauce pan. When I get about 4" of liquid lead in the pan after cleaning the slag and other metals from it I just glove up and use the handle of the pan to control the pour into the mold. Works real slick.
