Default #2 Black Chrome Sickle Hooks Breaking

I've been having the #2 Black Chrome sickle hooks breaking and was wondering if this is common? I have had a few mis pours and stick the head back in the led pot for remelting the head off. Could this be causing them to break?

Matzuo had that problem with the #4 black chrome but no mention of the #2. I put the head close enough to melt the lead off, haven't had any problems with the #2's.

Exposing the hook to over heated lead or reheating the hook by repouring can affect the temperament and strength of the hook. I throw away any hooks that mispour. I dip them in my pot to reclaim the lead. If you are submersing the hook in your lead pot to melt off the mispoured heads, I am pretty sure this will hurt the quality and integrity of the hooks.

Also, I haven't had any reported problems with the black chrome #2 I've sold.

I suspected the remelting of the heads was the culprit but wanted to check with the PROS.They are breaking at the first bend down the shank while taking the fish out of the water.
