Here's a handy pliers used for beading. You can find these at hobby shops and in just about any fabric shop that has a crafting section. Hobby Lobby and Michaels also sells them. The jaw is designed to hold a bead while stringing them, but fits a 1/32 head perfectly and will also hold a 1/64 or 1/16 without marring the heads. The smaller inside pocket is for the 1/64 heads. I grab the head in these pliers and twist off the sprue with the fingers or a needle nose. I don't have any issues with loose heads using this tool.

These are the clear deal Fisher. I cast lots of 1/32, 1/24, and 1/16 collar-less ball head jigs along with a few 1/64. The one issue that comes with these ballheads is a loose head from working the lead when twisting sprues. This eliminates the problem for me. If the head is being held, it can't move on the hook since you're not holding the hook. This heads fit fairly neat in the larger pocket and can be gripped firmly without denting or deforming. Try them.
