Well alot depends on where your fishing. For a basic set IMO I'd do yellow, orange, black, pink, white and chartreuse. You can also brush tap one color on top of another for two tones. If you're going to want glitter on your jigs you're going to need clear and a lot of it. If you have some small containers you can mix some colors together for other colors, i.e.
yellow/orange - red
black/yellow - olive
black/white - gray

Once you start mixing or brush tapping you'll find yourself with a lot of jars, and when you mix WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU MIXED!!!!!!! I have a color and all that's on the lid is screwed up and it's one of my favorite mixs - goes great by itself and I've brushed tapped it over white pearl and yellow.

Powder paint eyes can be done but it takes a lot of practice. Alot of folks are using stick on eyes and coating them. Ball heads can be squeezed to make pill heads jigs and it gives a nice flat area to put the eyes on.

Ok initial set up

Place I ordered from sent a single bed and I ordered a dual.

Oh well...I will email him but not going to get wound up over it.

I can already tell I wish i would have ordered the 3" cup set up instead of the 2" I did.....

I already tested my delonghi oven I got. Runs hot but I have a thermometer.

I took a 2x6 and fixed the cup to it using silicone. Added a little spray paint the board prior.

I made a quick jig rack out of a 2x6's. Maybe 10 inch gap between. I ripped another 2x6 in half then drilled holes and ran wooden shish-kabob skewers from the wife's cooking drawer

then put a dab of glue on each end of kabob and slid them through. Used 3" deck screws to secure the vertical ripped 2x6s to the plank. Added paint to it prior also. Maybe 15 minutes work.

I might try a few later after the silicone cures out and I am already entertained....

Nice set up KAG !!!!

As the others have mentioned,clear really comes in handy not only when thinning down colors,but is a must when you start mixing custom colors and especially if you start adding some glitters to the mix.

For heat source Ive tried all the methods and an alcohol burner is my preference..

I fought curing for years,but it really is necessary...if you want a head to last.

Before ........

And afterward....1st time. Used a candle. 2 tsp of translucent teal and 1 tsp of clear

Wish I would have gotten the 3", absolutely no question

You got everything looking good now. When you get a few done then your in trouble

more paint more jigs. You need to hang that OSU thing up as a backdrop

Nice setup and enough materials to get you in deeper

the painted jigs look good.
I used a 2" cup for a long time. Just built a 1 1/4 bed and like it better.

Nice buddy!!!!!!!!!!! Where'd you get the teal powder??? or if you mixed what recipe??? That color will make a great tap on color!!!!!!!!!!!
